NANOWRIMO VICTORY!
Well, I came over the finish line this morning rah rah sis boom bah! I had some fun doing it this year and I made up some rather amusing stories along the way but it was not as much fun as it was in the past when I had several buddies who were participating and we encouraged each other.
But oh well it was what it was and now I’m through with it and I don’t have to feel that I didn’t finish something that I have started, so all is well.
Now that I’m done with all that, I’m going to pick back up with my art again and even as I type this I’m working on a new NaNoWriMo 2008 book jacket.

I can’t believe that I’ve reached 35,000 words. I wasn’t sure that I was going to make it a week ago but barring unforseen circumstances, I think I’m going to make it across that finish line once again.
Of course, my flash stories are not so great, but the point is that I’ve been writing them and in between writing these not-so-great stories, I’ve been writing a little poetry and reviewing a little bit on Zoetrope and pretty much doing what I can to improve my writing skills and my writing consistency.
As soon as Nanowrimo is over, I want to pick back up with my drawing again. I haven’t drawn a single thing since I drew my Nanowrimo book jacket cover. It wasn’t a very good drawing, but I do feel that I put a lot of detail in a small space (8 1/2 by 11). Most of my work is small like that so I can scan it to my computer. I wonder if my drawings and paintings would be better if I tried to put them on a larger surface? Who knows?
Anyhow, I hope that I’ll be able to do a NaNoWriMo Happy Dance again this year as I cross the finish line with my lousy little novel in hand and a big grin on my face.

I’ve finally crossed the twenty thousand word line and now I feel that I actually have a chance to reach 50,000 words by the end of November. Here’s the evidence below:

What has really helped me to increase my word count is a web site that a writing buddy told me about. It’s called “Dr. Wicked’s Write or Die” and it’s a hoot! Believe me, you are pretty likely to increase your word count if you visit this web site.
Below is the results of my last visit to the website.

I thought this day would never come! After an extremely sluggish and uninspired start, I’ve at last entered the Ten Thousand Nanowrimo Words Club. It’s about time, too. Today is the 13th of the month and I should have about twenty-two thousand words under my belt, not ten thousand.
Oh, well, so I’ve had a late start. So what? I can still do it–I may feel a little less inspired that usual due to circumstances outside of my control, but I don’t feel any less determined than usual. The 50,000 word finish line is calling my name loud and clear.
The stories are coming a little slower now, but I’m trying to compensate. Visual prompts are good for me, so sometimes I find an interesting picture to look at and get a story idea from that.
I’d love to take time to do another book jacket, too, and I may after this is all over. Drawing is so much fun when I can take the time to really get into it.
Oh, well, back to the word fields.

Well, the first week of Nanowrimo 2008 has come and gone and as usual, I’m sadly behind with only 5,000 words. But I’m not giving up yet!
I’ve been terribly busy this week with my reader’s theater and with drawing my Nanowrimo 2008 Book Jacket for my Nanonovel, Multiplicity. See it below, drawn in marker and graphite pencil.
I enjoyed my participation in the reader’s theater so much that I’m thinking hard about being in the December musical that my local community college puts on each year. Last year I participated and had a blast! I don’t really want a speaking role, but I love to be a part of the cast and to participate in the dances.
Some good news for me: I found out recently that one of my poems has been accepted for publication in The Sigurd Journal, a fairly new electronic journal. This will be my first poetry publication.
Okay, onward with the Nanowrimo March. Hup two, Hup two, Hup two……….
